Get Organized – Closet Organization

Closet Organization

Another place many people use as a catch all area; the closet. A closet never seems to be big enough for all the stuff needing storage, however, with a little time and effort, you can make your closet work for you. Here are some great ideas to get you started.

As with the other rooms, take everything out, go through each item and take an inventory. In your closet, the golden rule is, if you didn’t wear it in the last year, toss it or re-purpose it. We highly recommend Threads to help you through this process.

If you can afford it, many closets could use great built-ins. Some drawers and shelves can make all the difference.

But when your budget’s tight, or you just need some new ideas, here are a few.

Invest in some good hangers. Hangers of all the same size and shape will not only save you space, but they will keep your clothes looking great for longer as well.

If you are short on space, make use of your door. An over-the-door shoe organizer is a great way to keep your shoes out of a pile on your floor.

A hanging organizer can be used in many ways. Anything that can be folded can be stacked neatly in the organizer. I've even seen purses and shoes organized in the hanging organizers. The options are endless.

The guest bedroom is a perfect place to show off your design skills. The great news is you don’t have to spend a lot to do it. Sometimes, just a little extra special touch is all the room needs to make your guests feel comfortable. Here is some inspiration and some things to keep in mind when you are planning your guest bedroom.

Neutral, white and gray design with a touch of calming blue and green. This room is serene and inviting with all the extras to make your guests feel right at home.

Bright, fun and happy. This room gives the feel of a modern hotel with all the comforts of home.

Bright accent wall and twin beds. This room is young and fun while giving extra space for multiple guests.

And some extra things to remember to include:

Fresh Linens

Make sure your bed is freshly made, looks inviting and has an extra blanket, just in case.

Towels

Make sure there are extra towels and washcloths for your guests to use. Set them on the dresser, the bed or in the bathroom. Just have them available and ready to be used.

Clock

Make sure there is a clock in the room as well and if it’s charging dock that’s even better!

Make it easy for them to see without having to turn on the main light.

Eyes Shut – Master Bedroom Design Inspiration

CalmingMasterBedroom

The master bedroom should be a calming beautiful place to end your days. The master bedroom is the last room the you see at the end of a day and the first room in the morning. A calming retreat for relaxing and falling asleep but a place that will make you smile and get ready to face the day. Have fun exploring these beautiful ideas for designing your master bedroom.

Contemporary Color Pop

When color is your thing, make sure your colors are rich and inviting. Color can make or break a room. In the master bedroom, choose colors that speak to you, but still allow you to feel rested and not too wired (save those for other areas of the house). That’s not to say you cannot go bold, some bold colors work very well in the master bedroom, teal or purple for instance, are great in the bedroom, however a bright lime green may not work as well.

This room’s beautiful rich color gives a pop while still offering a very relaxing atmosphere.

A bold wall color (in this case a charcoal gray) can make the room rich and inviting. The addition of a bright, bold color completes the room.

Room with a View

If your room has a beautiful view, use it for your design inspiration. Make sure your decor and colors do not take away from the view, but instead, enhance it.

To compliment the view and stone fireplace, the furnishings and decor are minimal with a rustic charm.

Pushing the furniture against one wall makes the view the highlight of the room. The minimal decor is inviting and compliments the view without becoming a distraction.

Minimal Beauty

A simplistic design in the master bedroom creates a quiet relaxing atmosphere. Perfect after a long day.

The browns and creams make a great calming escape from the day.

Dark wood combined with brown gold and cream decor and simple sitting area make this a wonderful, contemporary, bedroom escape.

Romantic

If you want a romantic feel in your bedroom, add some lush fabrics and beautiful curves.

The fabrics, curves and color makes this room a romantic oasis. The high ceiling and block wall are great contrast to the curved bed and pillows. The rich gold colors and deep brown furniture compliment each other well, thereby creating a great romantic escape.

The curtains, fabric headboard, texture and color choices make this lush bedroom look finished and inviting.

Whatever route you choose, make sure it is a place you don’t mind spending 8-10+ hours a day in, even if most of those are with your eyes closed.

Edgy, Sweet, Custom – Teen Bedroom Design Inspiration

The beauty and detriment of being a teen is finding yourself. It’s a rough path with many ups and downs, but we make it through, and are, hopefully, stronger and more confident in the end.

A teen bedroom should show off the developing personality of the young adult. Let their interests spark a creative vibe and go with it.

The beauty of a teen bedroom is that it can be very edgy and fun or sweet and calming. And this choice is completely different for each teen.

Teens definitely need a space of their own, one that they can go to when they need some time to think, work, or unwind. Make sure their space has space to relax while still showcasing their unique personality. They are becoming adults quickly, this is a great area to let them make the choices, and start to feel comfortable in their own skin.

Here are some great teen bedrooms that may help you get started on the bedroom of their dreams.

Fashion and Beauty

Teen girls are either completely into fashion or could care less. If your teen is a fashionista let her fashion sense take over the room.

Bright and Inviting

A pop of color on the wall is a great way to make a statement in the room. The teal, green, black and white accents make a great bold color scheme. Fun, playful and inviting, this room is a perfect place for a teenage girl to unwind.

Edgy Chill

This black walled room is brightened up with lime green, black and white. The hard edge is perfect for a teenage boy and the simplistic nature of the room makes it relaxing and inviting. Because the room is not overcrowded, there is plenty of room to spread out and unwind, something all teenagers need.

Sporty Edge

There is something about an industrial feel and sports that work so well together. Just enough edge to make the room fitting for a teenage boy.

Whatever route you choose, every teen needs a space to call their own. Let their vision pave the way.
